Physical Features:

Sphalerite is generally red, brown, green or blackcolored, high dispersion, and well-formed gemstone. Since Zinc being its chiefore, Sphalerite is therefore also known as Blende or Zinc-Blende. However,different miners call it by various names such as Blackjack, Steel jack,rosin or ruby jack. It is basically a Zinc Sulphide Mineral. Though primarilycomposed of zinc but it also contains a little variable of iron as well.Sphalerite is found in sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks acrossdifferent parts of the world. This stone is generally transparent with avitreous luster and sometimes translucent but opaque when the iron content ishigh in it. The chemical composition of Sphalerite is (ZnFe)S. It hasdispersion ranging 0.156(B-G interval) which is three times more than that of adiamond when cut brilliantly. It is soft and fragile and has also become andfashion element to carry. This stone comes with a number of impressiveproperties also.
