Where to plant tall trees
Plant tall, heavy trees in the south, west and south-west. They protect the house from harsh afternoon sun and strengthen the earth element.
Where to keep it open
Keep the north and east open or with small plants, lawns and flower beds, so morning sunlight reaches the house.
Auspicious trees
- Neem: purifying; good in the north-west.
- Coconut: good in the south or west.
- Mango, guava and pomegranate: good in the garden, away from the house.
- Banana: considered auspicious in the north-east of the garden.
Cautions
- A tree should not be too close to the house; its roots can damage foundations.
- Its shadow should not fall on the house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Avoid a tree directly in front of the main door.
