An ideal house floor plan should look like the following picture.
- The north side should be the treasure room. In fact, any room in the north direction can serve as a treasury. Some precious coins should be placed here in a container. A crystal tortoise gives good results here.
- The north-east point should house the worship or prayer room. This point should be the holiest place in the house. A kids' room can also be placed here, but no adult should use this place as a bedroom.
- The east part should be allotted to the kids' bedroom, study room, or bathroom.
- The south-east corner is the ideal place for the kitchen.
- The south part of the house can be used as a bedroom.
- The south-west corner should be the bedroom for the head of the house or for the elder couple.
- The west side should be the dining room. Musical instruments may also be placed here. The west side is also a good place for televisions.
- The north-west point may be the bathroom or toilet. This place may also serve as a guest room, store room, or a room for kids.
- The toilet is a key point in a house. See our Vaastu Toilet section for details. The toilet cannot be placed in the east, north, north-east, or centre of the house. There is no remedy for this — this Vaastu flaw cannot be corrected, so you should plan to place the toilet in the right direction from the start. Also, the toilet should be kept clean and hygienic at all times.
- The worship room or puja ghar is the most sacred place in a home, so its placement must not be wrong. There is no remedy if this room is placed in the wrong direction. This room should be in the north-east only. Placement in the south, west, south-west, north-west, or north is not acceptable for this room. For more detail, please see our Vaastu Worship Room section.
- The central courtyard must be built according to Vastu norms.
- The central energy axis must be constructed according to Vastu rules.
- We must keep in mind the appropriate placement of the hot air vent or the top ventilator.
- We should keep a space for a rear garden for animals in the house, as per Vastu rules.
- A rainwater catchment area is required in the garden. It is auspicious for dry and hot areas.
- We may use waste water for the vegetable garden, so we must build the channel properly.
- Plants have a positive influence, so we must plant medicinal plants and herbs in the house.
- The main entrance is the most significant point in a house. Positive energy enters the house through the main entrance, so we must follow the Vastu rules related to doors.
- The verandah is a place of interaction in our lives, so we must build a verandah.
