Jammu and Kashmir is the northmost union territory of India. It is known for its beautiful valleys and mesmerizing landscapes of the Himalayas all across the world. It is a beautiful and culturally rich region and a famous tourist hotspot of India. Many festivals are celebrated all across this region. The Urs or Ziarats is the most widely celebrated festival of this region that is celebrated many times a year. It shows the massive participation of all communities of Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus. It is an inter-communal festival that is celebrated to mark the deaths of prominent Muslim saints like, Meesha Sahab, Batamol Sahib, and Bahauddin. Moreover, both Id-ul-Azha and Id-ul-Fitr is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Jammu Kashmir.
Kashmir is the Muslim majority region and hence Eid festivities have huge participation and celebration. The Hemis festival is another cultural festival celebrated in the Hemis monastery in Kashmir. It is a stet holiday that marks the birth anniversary of Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism. The Sikh population in Kashmir also celebrates Baisakhi, the harvesting festival of North India.
