Guru Hargobind Jis Birthday, also known as Parkash Guru Hargobind, is a regional festival in Northern India. It falls on the 21st day of Harsh, the fourth month in the Nanakshahi calendar. This means it falls in either June or July in the Gregorian calendar.

Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was born on June 19th 1595. He became the sixth of the ten Gurus of Sikhism in June 1606, at the age of eleven, after the execution of his father, Guru Arjan, by the Mughal emperor Jahangir. His main legacy was the creation of the Sikh military force so that the Sikhs could defend themselves against people such as Jahangir. Under his leadership, the Sikhs fought and won several battles against the Mughal rule and army. These victories strengthened the Sikh community, leading to a degree of autonomy for the Sikhs within the Mughal Empire. Guru Hargobind had the longest rule as one of the living Gurus, lasting almost 38 years.

His life and teachings are celebrated on his birth anniversary. It is a Sikh festival where several special gatherings are organised in gurudwaras all across the country. People get together to celebrate the life of Harigibind Ji. They read his teachings and the tales of his bravery. Various events of Sikh martial arts are also organized on this day in Punjab. It is a joyous occasion for every Punjabi and Sikhs all over the world. This day promoted brotherhood and teaches everyone to find against any injustice that threatens our existence. Just like Guru Harigobind ji fought the Mughal rule.
