Nagaland Holiday 2026

Nagaland is one of the smallest states of India located in the northeastern region. The indigenous tribes and people of Nagaland celebrate many festivals all year. The most famous and widely-celebrated one is the Hornbill Festival. It is one of the biggest festivals that take place in Kisama village. The significance of the festival lies in the fact that it is not an ancient festival, and it was started in the year 2000 to popularise Nagaland among the tourists. Another significant festival is Sekrenyi, a festival of the people belonging to the Angami tribe of Nagaland. This festival is 10-day long and involves food, fun, and festivities.
On the first day of the festival, only the young bachelor men are allowed to participate. The next day animals are hunted for the main celebration of the festival. During the actual festival, hunted animals are cooked, and delicious dishes are served to the people gathering for the celebrations. Tsukheneye festival is another major celebration in Nagaland. It is a harvesting festival held mainly during March. The festival is celebrated over the span of four days and is followed by ritualistic bathing in the river for purification. There are various other festivals celebrated by the inhabitants of Nagaland.
