It is a traditional tread for the people that they like to spend their pleasure
time. Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian constructing science which is developed
many years ago. Basic of the Vastu Shastra is to bring compatibility among men,
nature and the constructed environment with the help of correct placement of the
building. So we need to make a veranda at the house of us.
Tin is the best ceiling material for verandah. Corner of the verandahs must not
be circular and the balconies must not have curves. If there is a flower pot in
verandah it must be small. No creeping plant must be planted on verandah. The sitting
of verandah must be at the southern or western sides.
Verandah can be auspicious in a house if it is placed at the eastern, southern eastern,
northern western or northern side of house. Good luck will enter from these sides.
A shoe rack may be kept there, in order to keep the shoes when someone enters through
the verandah.
Southern Western part is suitable for heavy furniture or seating. Swing must be
placed at the eastern western axis. Flowers and light plant may be placed at the
northern eastern side.
It is not a well indication of drying the clothes. If you have to dry the clothes
in verandah then you should use the eastern wall. So you may maintain the rules.
Neither the verandah nor the design of wooden or metal things in verandah is oval
or rounded shaped. Square shaped things are perfect for verandah. Rectangular and
triangular shape is also good in verandah.
The Vastu Shastra also suggests the colours of the particular place. It may be stated
that the light colour is preferable to verandah like green, lemon yellow or white.
We may apply at the height of floor must be lower than the other rooms of the house.

Moving of swing at the eastern western axis is a good indication for your house.
There must not be seated area at the northern eastern side of the verandah. You
are not allowed to cut or round the verandah’s corner.
Any switch or electric meter in verandah must be placed in the southern eastern
side. Trees and flowers or any fruit is fortunate for family in verandah. But you
must remember that any tree dries up owing to deficiency of water, is regarded as
an ill-fated sign. Don’t plant banyan tree as it is harmful in the verandah.
