Arundhati Roy was born 24 November 1961. Her full name is Suzanna Arundhati Roy. She is an eminent novelist and writer from India. She started her career as a screenwriter for films and movies like In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones(1989) where she also acted. It went on toNational Film Award for Best Screenplay. Roy completed her first novel The God of Small Things in the year 1996. It is semi-autobiographical based on her early life in Aymanam. She went on to win the Booker Prize for Fiction in the year 1997. It became the best seller internationally and sold in 18 countries. Her other books include Listening to Grasshoppers: Field Notes on Democracy.
