Chayan Sarkar is an Indian-born Australian director, producer, and actor. He was born on 24th July 1972 in Kolkata, India. In the year 1996, he moved to Australia and have bee permanent resident there. He is best known for directing independent films and short films based on a myriad of subjects. His notable films areFaut pas rêver(1990), Raman(2008), The Sleeping Warrior(2012). His Last Weaver is based on the story of a silk weaver who struggles to keep his business and art of ancient Sufi technique of Silk production alive in face of mass production of Chinese silk and their imitation of designs which won him applaud from various international film festivals.
