Heroes Martyrdom Day is a regional festival in the Indian state of Haryana. This festival is a Shaheedi Divas meaning martyrdom day to honour those who have sacrificed their lives in the defence of Haryana and the nation. This festival marks the death anniversary of Rao Tula Ram, a freedom fighter during Indias first war of independence in 1857.

Rao is a state hero of Haryana and is famous for temporarily driving the British from south-west Haryana during the rebellion of 1857. He also assisted rebel forces fighting in Delhi. Rao died from an infection on September 23rd 1863. His death anniversary is celebrated as the Martyrdom Day in Haryana. On the date of Raos death, people pay their respect to the freedom fighters, soldiers and all others from the state who have sacrificed their lives for their state and the country.

A state function is organised at the war memorial situated in the John Hall on the Civil line Road, Gurgaon. People from all over the state pay floral tributes to the martyrs in this grand event. At the function, Police personnel and military men give a salute and their tribute to Rao Tula Ram and the martyrs of India. It is a day of immense pride for all the population of Haryana. The chief minister addresses the state on this day and expresses his wishes and respects to all the martyrs of the country of India.

Various cultural shows, fairs, and flea markets are organized around the memorial to make this a more enthusiastic day. People travel from different corners of the state to witness these celebrations. It is beautiful and a symbol of the bravery of Haryana.
