Moon (Chandra) in Vedic Astrology

About Moon

The Moon (Chandra) represents the manas, the mind: how you feel, react and find peace. It signifies the mother, nurturing, home, the public and all fluids in the body.

Indian astrology places great emphasis on the Moon. Your Moon sign (Rashi) and birth nakshatra are used for daily horoscopes, dashas, Sade Sati and compatibility. The Moon moves through a sign in about two and a half days, so it changes quickly, like our moods.

What Moon signifies

Mind (manas), mother, emotions, public, fluids, sleep, memory.

Friends and Enemies

A planet placed in a friend's sign, or joined with friendly planets, generally gives better results than one placed with enemies.

When Moon Is Well Placed

A strong, well-placed Moon gives emotional stability, a calm mind, a caring nature, good memory, popularity and comfort. It is associated with affluence and good social standing, and a good bond with the mother.

When Moon Is Weak or Afflicted

A weak or afflicted Moon (for example, waning, debilitated or with malefics) can make the mind restless, anxious or moody, and affect sleep and emotional wellbeing. It may also indicate concerns related to the mother or to fluid balance in the body.

Remedies for Moon

• Worship Lord Shiva and chant "Om Namah Shivaya", especially on Mondays
• Respect your mother and care for elderly women
